FINAL BILLBOARD

I am really pleased with my final Billboard for my soap ‘Shearwater Road’ as it looks really professional due to the layout of words and the character Mr.Mead’s facial expression tells the story perfectly as he appears angry and confused. I decided the BBC would host my drama as when doing research I found a similar show to mine (Waterloo Road) was also shown on this channel at a similar time and day.

The writing on the board works perfectly as the colours all compliment each other really well which links to the brand identity as the BBC’s trademark colour is red too. The enigma created is great for the viewer as they are unsure at this point who ‘Jess’ is and they will no doubt want to find out too!

FINAL FRONT COVER

I created my final front cover using Microsoft Publisher as I felt most confident using this software. I created coloured tabs down the right hand side to indicate to the reader which day shows which shows, this is all part of my genre as when doing research I gained knowledge that my audience like comfort, ease and things made clear for them. My mast head was done in bright yellow to attract the reader with a clashing hot pink price banner alongside. I created the photo on Photoshop, I used a pink ‘feather’ tool around the outside of my characters to represent the love and passion between them, so without knowing this directly the viewer presumes it instantly. Also the picture indicates some sort of relationship as the male is dressed in a shirt and tie which suggests to the viewer he is of authority and his hand on her shoulder illustrates some kind of relationship. The bright, red banner at the bottom of my magazine with large, white capital writing stands out as the colour contrasts the rest of the colour scheme. The DAZ give away is perfect for my genre recognition as it is something that people buying may also buy as it is cheap, like the magazine, also housewives are my genre norm and so they too will buy in to this particular demographic.

I am pleased with the overall outcome of my magazine as I feel I have included all the necessary conventions needed to create the perfect magazine for my genre.

IDEA 2: Magazine front cover

I felt ‘FREE iTUNES VOUCHERS INSIDE’ was not correct for my particular demographic as the magazine is only cheap and it is not actually to do with music. This give away was a mistake which was corrected to ‘FREE DAZ’ something that my genre would relate to much more.

FINAL PRODUCT - Soap trailer

Here is my final trailer for my soap, unfortunately the sound is not 100% accurate on this video even after feedback from my previous trailer due to the loss of a saved final copy. This is one correction I would make to my trailer but otherwise I am pleased with my final product as the song I chose fits perfectly and the lyrics tell the story even without words. I really enjoyed scripting for the trailer and putting it all together with the characters, I played a part and had some speaking roles too, but I also filmed which was really interesting to see how the camera operates with the zoom and focus buttons, and how even the smallest thing such as a wide angle shot can say so much about the story line. I created my own youtube account and uploaded this video and then finally posted it to my blog, the feedback I gathered has been really positive, bar the minor slip up with the sound overlap, but I know now how to correct this.

LOCATION SHOTS - Whilst filming for our soap trailer

We took various location shots around our college whilst filming our soap trailer as we took in to account our exact genre. We needed to create the perfect genre for our soap and so we felt our own college was the best place for it as our soap was aimed at people just like us. Our location shots took place in corridors, classrooms (where our billboard was created) and outside the characters house.

Possible 'extra' photo's for our magazine front cover

I took the first photo of Lyndsey and directed her to be in a boy’s jacket with the hood up to indicate a thug like appearance. She carries this off well and I decided to use it on my front cover as it looks as though it could have come from a Soap on TV, whereas the other photo detracts away from the main photograph as there is 3 of them.
